Getting to grips with WordPress

WordPress is a very different beast from when I was last using it regularly but I’m beginning to feel like I am getting the hang of it again. I don’t know whether I really like the layout I’ve done for the front page (I only slightly tweaked the Twenty Twenty-Three theme) but it feels like an achievement even so. It may be nowhere near as slick as it could be, but it’s mine and for now, it’ll do.

The biggest change is undoubtedly the ‘block editor’, which I’ve only just discovered can be used for writing posts as well as editing the site layout. Until now I’ve been using a plug-in to write posts in Markdown, but it made some features misbehave so I have given it the heave-ho. I would still like to be able to write in Markdown so maybe I’ll look for an alternative editor.
